Finding a lurker

Feeling like catching a Sableye in one of the Pokémon RPGs? Try looking here...

Generation three

Sableye was introduced as a version-exclusive Pokémon; this means that it was available in Pokémon Sapphire, but not in Pokémon Ruby, where in its place you would have found Mawile. Sableye was later made available in the Emerald version too. So, if you want to catch a Sableye in Pokémon Sapphire or Emerald, there are a few places where you should look.

Early in the game, it is sometimes found in the depths of Granite Cave at level 9 to 12. If you want to have a Sableye in the first stages of the game, this is your only chance; you won't see it again up until the end of the storyline, in the Cave of Origin. It is rather common once you reach the deeper area; Sableye will be found at level 30 to 34. Another place where this Pokémon is found is the inner-most zone of Victory Road, where it's very common (35% chance of meeting) and found at level 40 - 44.

After the end of the game, you can find more Sableye in Sky Pillar; look for them in the odd-numbered floors, they're easy to find. In Pokémon Sapphire, they will be level 48-56, the highest for a wild Sableye in generation three; in Pokémon Emerald, they will be level 33 or 34.

I hear Sableye can also be caught in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness from Navigator Abson in Citadark Isle. It will be a Shadow Pokémon, of course.

Generation four

To catch a Sableye in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, you need to have a DS or DS Lite and a Pokémon Sapphire cartridge. Just put it into the GBA slot while you're playing and, with some luck, you'll be able to find Sableye deep within Iron Island, at level 30 to 34.

Sableye is also available in the wild in Pokémon Heart Gold; it is one of those swarming Pokémon you hear about at the radio. Groups of level 13 Sableye always appear in Route 9. They're fairly common when swarming; however, this is also the only way you're ever going to find one in game, so pay attention to your radio.

A wild Sableye can be caught in your Pokéwalker in both Heart Gold and Soul Silver...however, it only appears in the event-only Rally route after 1000 or more steps, and even like that it's still a rare sight. This route was released for Japanese players from January 29 to February 28, 2010; it's currently unavailable in the western versions. Well, just wait for it.

Generation five

Look, I don't care about the details but: if you want a Sableye in Pokémon Black and White, go to the Challenger's Cave. It has wild level 49 Sableye. And that's all there is about it, since they can be found pretty easily and regardless of the season. Or so I hear!
